Concept Maps

My concept map is about American Heroes that are well known. All of the people selected are people that I learned about when I was younger that I feel like third graders should be able to identify and know a little bit about. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is well known for the bus boycott, African American civil rights, and his famous "I have a dream" speech. Harriet Tubman is well known for helping slaves through the underground railroad. Benjamin Franklin is well known of being an invention, being a founding father and being on the one hundred dollar bill. Thomas Jefferson, also a founding father and major writer of the Declaration of Independence can be found on the nickel. George Washington, our first President is known for being a founding father and being located on the dollar bill. I enjoyed doing this assignment and will be using it in the feature with my students.
1. Working portfolios contain large collections of a preserve teacher's work overtime. Assessment portfolios are an out growth of contents saved overtime from working portfolios. Showcase portfolios are used for employment purposes after graduation. They present the preserve teachers work and are composed of a subset of working portfolio content which include: lesson plans, unit plans, photographs, etc. TK20 would be an example of a showcase portfolio because the purpose of TK20 is to have something to show when we go to find jobs after graduation.
2. The concept map that I have done has a main idea of American Heroes. I included many symbols such as: pictures of each person, money, glasses, the United States, a flag, railroad, etc. The people that I have chosen are George Washington, our founding father, located on the dollar, and our first president; Thomas Jefferson, located on the nickel and known writer of Declaration of Independence; Benjamin Franklin, located on the one hundred dollar bill and an inventor; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., known for his "I have a dream" speech and Montgomery Boycott; and Harriet Tubman well know for the underground railroad and slavery. When picking colors I decided to stick with the America theme and use red, white, and blue.

About me:)

Hello,
My name is Misty Hawley. I am 20 years old and I graduated from Biloxi High School and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. I would like to be anywhere from a first to third grade teacher. I have taken a few technology classes starting in middle school. After I finish my teaching degree I plan on going back to school for ultrasound technician. I do not plan on going right after graduating but sometime after. Technology is important in a teaching environment and has come along way. Teachers use to have a handwrite every grade now they can do it with a few buttons on the computer. Of course, the majority of teachers still do it the old fashion way as a back up.
