My Website
https://sites.google.com/site/mistyhawley4/ This is the link to my webiste. Websites can be a great way for parents to keep up with what is going on in the classroom and what the students will be doing each week. One can put calenders, assignments, information on themselves, sign up area for activities that parents can help with and more. Like google docs, google sites is a great way to keep things private for only invited people.
My Movie
Google Groups
This week we were assigned two assignments using google groups. We were assigned a group were we were to use google docs to create a story and each group member was to add on to it. Also we were to create a google doc to create a powerpoint, which is a little different from word powerpoint. However, we saved to word powerpoint as you will see below. Google apps can be a great way to share things with certain people without anyone being able to see it. For example on the story the only people who could see or edit are the people invited by the manager.
One Spooky Night
One
spooky Halloween night, two teenage girls decided to go to a high
school Halloween party. The girls names are Shelby and Mia. Shelby and
Mia are very popular, beautiful girls, so they must make an appearance
at this party. On the way home from the party it was very foggy and hard
to see. (Lynsie Gray)
On
the way home the girls ran over something and got a flat tire. The
girls were by themselves and very scared. They had never had this
problem before, they did not know how to change a spare tire nor could
they find the spare tire. (Misty Hawley)When they went to use their phones to call for help, Shelby’s phone was dead, and Mia had no reception. The girls began to panic and didn’t know what to do. They knew their house could not be that far from where they were. As they go to get out the car to start walking, they see a something coming close to them. (Amber Heggins)
Mia began to panic, while Shelby tried to stay calm assuring her there was nothing there to worry about. As they began to run instead of walk they still looked back and saw a shadow of something. With fear in both girls they knew they had to hurry and try to get to their house but it was very hard in the dark. All of a sudden Mia said, “look I see lights, we have to run faster something is after us.” Finally, without a doubt it was there house they saw. Only feet from it they looked back and saw a man with a mask on coming quicker towards them. Then all of a sudden Mia opened the door to the house and they was safe inside. Come to find out it was Shelby’s brother playing a horrible trick on the girls. The girls never in their life wanted to kill him like they did at that point, but they was glad to be home safe and sound where they belong and never wanted to go to another Halloween party again. Wed Tools 2.0
For my web tools I decided to stay with my American Heroes theme with the exception of my worksheet. My rubric was very simple, basic and to the point. My quiz was based on the information found on my concept map. My worksheet I did on frogs and my make your own worksheet was a word search with my American heroes names. Wed tools are a big part of education today. You do not see teacher making their own quizzes on paper, you see them typing their questions and answers into web tools. Also teacher do not make their own worksheets they usually find them online and print them out. However, the majority of teachers do make their own rubrics because every teacher is looking for something different though they may use web tools for the design of the rubric. Web 2.0 tools are an ever-growing collection of tools, the most familiar
being blogs, wiki, and podcast. Blogs are the most widely accepted web
2.0 applications. Blogs are a web page that contains text, images, and
links. Teachers can use a blog to keep in communication with parents.
Wiki premits individuals to read, post, modify and delete information.
Wikipedia is the most well-known wiki. Wiki can be used for collaborated
writing projects. Video sharing is another web 2.0 tool, similar to
youtube. Teachers can post videos for students to view providing
resources. Photo-sharing such as flickr allows the posting of photos in
an online account so others can view the pictures. Students and teachers
can keep documentation of field trips.
